Who we are

This website is run by the James Cleverly for London campaign (“the campaign”,
“we”). We are responsible for the personal information collected through this
site. For anything about this notice or your data — questions, requests or
complaints — email hello@jcformayor.com.

What we collect

If you sign up to join the campaign, we ask for:

We also ask whether you are a member of the Conservative Party (yes or no), which we use to plan the campaign and to check eligibility to take part in the selection; and whether you would like to volunteer, be a Local Captain, or are a member of the media.

We also record when you signed up, the wording of the consent you gave, and the
version of this notice at that time, so we can evidence your consent later.

How we use it, and our lawful basis

Supporting a political campaign can reveal your political opinions, which are
special category data under UK GDPR Article 9. We only use your
details to run this campaign: to send you the updates you asked for, to organise
volunteering you offered to help with, and to understand where in London our
support is.

We rely on your explicit consent, given through the un-ticked
checkboxes on the sign-up form. Nothing is pre-ticked, and signing up is never
conditional on ticking anything.

Changing your mind

You can withdraw consent at any time: every email we send includes a one-click
unsubscribe, you can reply STOP to any SMS, or you can email
hello@jcformayor.com. Withdrawing consent
doesn’t affect anything done before you withdrew it.

Who we share it with

We don’t sell your data, and we never share it with third parties for their own
marketing. Your details are held by trusted service providers who act only on our
instructions and under contract — for example, the providers who host this website
and deliver our emails and text messages.

Because this is a campaign to become the Conservative Party’s candidate, we may
share your details — including whether you have told us you are a Party member —
with the Conservative Party and its local associations, for example
to verify membership, to organise campaigning in your area, and so that the Party
can contact you about the campaign for Mayor of London. Where you have ticked a box
to volunteer, to be a Local Captain, or to say you work in the media, we may pass
that on for the same purposes.

How long we keep it

We keep supporter records for the life of this campaign. Within 12 months of the
campaign ending we will delete or anonymise them, unless you ask us to delete them
sooner or the law requires specific records to be kept longer. Records evidencing
your consent are kept for as long as we are required to be able to demonstrate it.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at
ico.org.uk — though we’d welcome the
chance to put things right first.

Cookies and local storage

This site sets one strictly necessary cookie without asking: __cf_bm, set by Cloudflare, which protects the site from automated abuse. It lasts about 30 minutes, contains no personal information and is not used to track you. WordPress itself sets no cookies for visitors.

Everything else is off until you say otherwise. When you first visit, a cookie panel offers Accept all, Reject all, or Save my choices with two optional categories:

If you do nothing, or choose Reject all, no analytics or marketing cookies are set and the site works exactly the same. You can change your mind at any time via Manage cookies in the footer; withdrawing consent stops the tag and removes its cookies from your browser.

Separately, two functional preferences are stored in your browser’s local storage: the Reduce motion toggle in the footer (motion) and your cookie-panel answer (consent.v1). These never leave your device and identify nobody; you can clear them in your browser settings. Fonts are served from this site, not a third-party CDN, so viewing the site tells no one else you were here.

Contact and data requests

For anything about your data — questions, access requests, corrections, deletion,
or withdrawing consent — email
hello@jcformayor.com.
We aim to respond to data requests within one month.
